We saw the remaining first round of the women’s and the first round of the men’s main draw, what a great day of matches.

The day started out with a downpour of rain but it was nothing our Grounds Team can’t handle! Play kicked off at the usual 11am start time thanks to the hard work and preparation of our team.

FUN IN THE ACTIVATION ZONE

Our Activation Zone was full with visitors! Joining us was former World No. 1 in doubles Storm Hunter and USA doubles partners, Lammons and Withrow. This was a great opportunity for juniors to ask them about their tennis careers, how many hours they train and if they like chocolate!

WARWICKSHIRE TENNIS CHALLENGE

The Warwickshire Tennis Challenge is a great way to get our juniors playing even more tennis during the tournament! This is a non-competitive, friendly competition and they all had a great time.

LEYLA’S LOWDOWN & LOOK AHEAD

Qualifier Murphy Cassone continued his good form and battled through 7-6 7-6. This was quite disappointing for Dan and his fans as he is always exciting and fun to watch and we wanted to see more of him!

Top men’s seed falls at the first hurdle with Bellucci losing to Landaluce after a tie break third set.

Mannarino won on a retirement – he is one to watch on the grass as he is very tricky and has an unpredictable game.

Burrage joins Heather and Mimi as three women Brits go into the second round! Burrage has now secured her victory in her first match on grass surface since 2023 – she looked strong and confident.

Coming up we have…

We have an exciting order of play as the British women kick off on Centre Court. We have a crowd favourite Heather Watson playing and we hope she keeps her good form on the grass! Heather is an aggressive baseliner and is also confident moving forward and plays well at the net. She always thrives off the energy of the crowd so make sure you bring a great atmosphere!

Next up we have Jodie Burrage against Linda Fruhvirtova – who had a great win today against Eala. Linda has had a career high of World No. 49 and in 2023 she reached the quarter-finals at this tournament, so we know she can perform well on grass.

Mannarino will kick off the ATP half of Centre Court with a match against Jarry. This is the match of the day as both players have been inside the top 20 in their career and have had a lot of experience on the tour.

There’s lots of great matches across the grounds this week, make sure you come down, support the players and make a create an incredible atmosphere!

OFF COURT

Don’t rush off after play – the fun’s just getting started! Enjoy live music every night this week from 7:30pm, and from 4pm on Sunday. Plus, treat yourself to our delicious BBQ, sizzling from 5pm Wednesday to Friday this week.
