LEYLA’S LOWDOWN AND LOOK AHEAD

Due to the rain we only saw two completed matches, but what a start to the day! The first semi-final of the day we saw Linda Fruhvirtova claim victory with a momentous swing. She had a great comeback after losing nine games in a row in the middle of the match. She then rallied and battled through to win, which put her into the final. Linda had a great season in 2023 and it’s fantastic to see her finding her form again in Edgbaston! She’s waiting to find out who she’ll face in the final, the winner of tomorrow’s semi-final between Greet Minnen and Rebeka Masarova.

On the men’s side, Finland’s Otto Virtanen continued his strong run, backing up a thrilling victory over Brandon Holt with another impressive performance today. After a three set win, Virtanen is our first men’s finalist. Now, we wait for the outcome of the battle between Hijikata and Smith to see who will join him in the title match.

Super Sunday!

The excitement continues with lots of tennis in store. We have three finals, a semi-final and the remainder of another semi-final. What a day! If you haven’t secured your ticket yet, now’s the time – tomorrow is the big day of the tournament!
