Day two was filled with action packed matches! Starting with our fifth seed Mertens beating world tennis star Wozniacki on the first match on our Ann Jones Centre Court! One of our members, Lisa Bryan, got the chance to perform the coin toss for this match after winning it in a charity auction.
We had lots of Brits playing today! With Heather Watson losing to Marie Bouzkova, Harriet Dart winning against Moyuka Uchijima, Amelia Rajecki losing to Diana Shnaider and Katie Boulter (coming straight from her win at the Nottingham Open) retired during her match against Anhelina Kalinina!
Looking Ahead…
We’ve got a fantastic lineup again tomorrow!
First match is Tomljanovic v Zhu. Tomjlanovic is returning after injury but she always plays well on grass as her attacking ground strokes suit the surface. Zhu beat the third seed on Monday so this will be an exciting game!
Our second match is Cocciaretto v Stephens. This match will show contrasting game styles. Sloane hits early and likes to attack the back court, whilst Cocciaretto has the variety in her game to disrupt rhythm.
Our third match is Fernandez v Golubic. Fernandez moves well on the court, attacks well on the baseline and loves moving forward. Golubic uses a variety of backhand and spins in her strokes. This will be the match of the day!
Our final match on Centre Court is Potapova v Bronzetti. Potapova loves to attack from the baseline and favours a backhand down the line. Will Bronzetti have enough variety in her game to beat her?
If you haven’t done so, grab your tickets to come down and watch the world’s best tennis stars. You get so close to the action, it’s very inspiring and motivating to watch.
