June marks the beginning of the summer grass court season, and we have had a fantastic month to kickstart our summer!
Firstly, we hosted one of our biggest events of the year, the Rothesay Classic. We welcomed the world’s best in women’s tennis to our grass courts for the week. We offered our junior members our Junior Classic Experience on the qualifying weekend. The day included: watching, learning, playing in the Activation Zone, meeting and having a Q&A session with Marie Bouzkova, lots of selfies and autographs, and being part of the draw ceremony with defending champion Jelena Ostapenko! It was an amazing day with so many memories made!
Our EPC tennis teams have also had a very busy June. Our Ladies first team qualified for the National Premier League Finals. This league started in October and our team had committed and battled all winter. The finals were held at St George’s Hill and it was great for the club to be part of National Finals.
We also had a fixture against the All England Club. Our team of Simon, Nathan, Manisha and Emily won 3.1. They played Ladies, Men’s and mixed doubles. Our NPL team also went along, supported and were treated to a special tour behind the scenes!
We also played many team matches over June. We are now in the key stages of the local leagues. The local leagues season will be completed by the end of August. Well done to all those that play in our squads!
