We’ve had a very successful July for our members that love tennis! Summertime means that our grass courts are open and there’s nothing better than playing on our beautiful grass in the sunshine.
Our July began with the Wimbledon Final – a massive congratulations to Barbora Krejcikova and Carlos Alcatraz, our Wimbledon Champions of 2024. This years’ Wimbledon winner is particularly special to our members as Krejcikova is a regular at our grass tournament – the Rothesay Classic. Our members have the opportunity to play on the same centre court that Krejcikova played on – how many people can say they’ve played on the same court as a Wimbledon Champion?
Wimbledon Finals Day also meant we hosted our annual charity event in support of the Birmingham Hospice. We enjoyed the day playing doubles tennis, watching the final, eating a delicious BBQ and, most importantly, raising money for Birmingham Hospice. We raised over £800! Thank you for all those that were involved in the event and everyone who donated.
We also hosted a fun event for our juniors: Junior Wimbledon Smash! Inspired by Wimbledon, our juniors had the opportunity to enjoy a full day of tennis fun. They put on their whites and joined in the friendly competition with coaching, prizes and lots of new friends made. They were also treated to some strawberries and cream – it wouldn’t be a Wimbledon event without them!
