It’s time to celebrate our staff!
Our Head of Racquets, Leyla Ogan, has been representing Great Britain in the O45s in the ITF Championships in Tokyo.
The team qualified through their groups with wins over Switzerland and Argentina 3.0 on both days. In the quarter finals they played Spain, having never beaten Spain before!
Leyla won her singles 3-6, 6-0, 6-1. They lost the other singles so they were into the deciding doubles. Leyla played with Mili and won 12.10 in the 3rd saving match points to make it into the semis! In the semi finals they played Germany and lost both singles, Leyla lost 6-3, 6-7, 7-5.
They were then into 3rd/4th play off against Japan who had knocked out the defending champions. They won both their singles, with Leyla winning 6-2, 6-1 to secure a bronze medal.
“It was an amazing week in Japan – I created so many memories on and off the court. It was a really special time and we played some amazing tennis and are very proud to get bronze!”
