And the British Open 2024 tournament is over! We loved hosting this event – the buzz around the club was amazing! The opening weekend saw the qualification rounds at our club. With 32 games of squash being played across the club and the Rep on just the first day – it was definitely busy! The sun was shining, spectators were treated to some amazing squash and we also had a live band to celebrate the opening day!

We want to thank all of our staff and volunteers that helped and supported the running of the tournament.

We also had two of our members, Joel Makin and Alicia Mead, play in the British Open this year!  Alicia played on the opening day at the club and had a really close game, but unfortunately didn’t make it through to the next round.

Joel Makin played a fantastic tournament. This was the first time Joel had qualified at the British Open, and not only did he qualify, but he reached the semi-finals! After beating Diego Elias (a World Champion) in the quarters, he got through to the semis. Joel then faced Ali Farag, the World No. 1. After playing a fantastic game of squash, unfortunately, Joel’s British Open journey ended. He had an amazing tournament, a fantastic home crowd and the the club is very proud of his fantastic achievement!

Well done Joel!

We would also like to congratulate Gohar and Asal who are the 2024 British Open Champions!
