BREAKING NEWS...AEGON Classic returns in 2010!

In June this year the Management Committee communicated to EPC members that it was in discussions with the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) and Birmingham City Council, regarding the long term development of the Club and the future of an international grass court tournament in Birmingham.
Such is the potential long term benefit to the current and future membership of the Club that the Management Committee believes sufficient time should be allowed for negotiations to continue. The Management Committee has therefore agreed to a one year extension to host the AEGON Classic in 2010, from 7 to 13 June.
Last years AEGON Classic was a tremendous success for the Club and City of Birmingham. Club members purchased over 1,400 centre court tickets and many members kindly volunteered their services as stewards. The Management Committee acknowledges that the staging of the tournament does cause some inconvenience to members and has therefore negotiated an increased facility fee with the LTA.
The one year extension will enable all parties to further explore opportunities to develop the Club’s facilities for the benefit of all members and as an improved tournament venue.
